U-pick Experience FAQ

How can I stay updated on picking conditions and availability?

Sometimes berries ripen faster than expected, and we need to open for picking to manage the crop—especially when weekends fall early. Other times, the berries are there, but not ripening as quickly or abundantly as usual, which means guests may find fewer berries per bush.

Subscribe to our e-news to stay informed about picking conditions, crop availability, and last-minute updates.

Is there always something to pick at Kustermans?

We offer different picking experiences from June to mid-August and again in the fall. There might be short gaps between crops (e.g., between strawberries and raspberries), but we aim to have something available most of the time.

What does “limited picking” mean?

Limited picking means there’s still fruit available, but it may take longer to fill your containers. The fields are not as full as usual, and you may need to search a bit more. During this time, prepaid options are temporarily removed.

Do I need to book in advance for picking?

No booking is required! Just come during our season hours—first come, first served while supplies last.

Is there an admission fee for picking?

No general admission fee is required, but all pickers must prepay for a minimum amount or have an Adventure Farm Pass.

How does the prepayment work?

At check-in, each picker prepays for minimum quantity. If you pick more, any extra litres will be charged at checkout.

Do I need to prepay for picking if I have an Adventure Farm Pass?

Nope! Your pass includes free entry to the strawberry fields. You will pay strawberries by litre.

Do I have to pay for all I pick?

Yes. All berries picked must be purchased. Please pick responsibly.

What happens if I pick less than the prepaid amount?

There are no refunds for under-picking, but you’re welcome to return to the fields and pick more to complete minimum prepay.

How do we get to the picking fields?

We’ll take you there on a scenic wagon ride! It’s part of the experience and fun for all ages.

Do you have ready-picked products?

Yes! You can buy Already-Picked berries, sunflowers and pumpkins at the Farm Market—perfect if you prefer not to pick.

What happens if it rains? Is picking still open?

We’re open rain or shine, but picking may pause during heavy rain or unsafe conditions. Sign up to our newsletter for updates.

Are pets allowed on the farm or in the fields?

Pets are not allowed. Service animals are welcome with documentation from a regulated health professional.
